This is the process of bringing the boat up to full speed quickly and legally as well as under full control. In most cases it will be used on a start line with the boat initially being stationary or moving very slowly on or around a close hauled course. This is an especially important skill which is vital to ensuring a good start, and making sure you have tactical options soon after. The aim should be to accelerate the boat to full speed.
